One

Today
Im your blank and open book
And you write in me
Your ideals and what it is youd like the people to read
And tomorrow
You publish me to the world
And the people will read and believe what they see
Its the destructive power of a word

Today
Im your empty canvas
And you paint me through
With images of what it is youd like the people to do
And tomorrow
You hang me in your museum
With your past works
And they will come from all around just to see us

Today
You know Id rather be
A white-washed wall
In your teenage girls bedroom

And she scrawls on me
Yeah she scrawls on me
Her meaningful poetry

Still she scrawls on me
But is it for my benefit
Or for her parents to see?

Yet today
She turns her back and walks away
She refuses to read
She refuses to see
She refuses to be
And she will not believe

Still she scrawls on me
In meaningful poetry

Please remember that true revolution can only start with the individual
